Major Outage Hits Microsoft Web Services
By Chris BrunauCan you survive 17 hours without cloud-shared files? This week, that was reality for thousands of Microsoft customers during a Microsoft Office 365 outage.
“We’ve monitored the infrastructure and have confirmed that restarting the affected systems remediated impact,” Microsoft announced on their Office 365 status page. “We’ve determined that the previously resolved issue had some residual impact to the service configuration for OneDrive,” Microsoft said in a status update Tuesday afternoon. “We’re performing an analysis of the affected systems to determine what further steps are needed for full recovery.”
Various services including Outlook, Office 365, OneDrive, Xbox Live, and Skype were affected, according to GeekWire. The outage affected parts of the United States and Europe. In many instances, users had difficulty signing into the various services. Unfortunately for Microsoft users, A similar outage occurred earlier this month when users in the United States and Europe experience issues for several hours.
Microsoft has not yet disclosed the cause of the outage, but stay tuned for more updates.
