Majority of CEOs See Cybersecurity as an Investment and Opportunity

Nearly every week, a new strain of ransomware or massive data breach is making headlines. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that cybersecurity investments are on the top of the majority of CEO’s minds.

In KPMG’s U.S. CEO Outlook 2017, we found some pretty interesting numbers around the growing cybersecurity trend. The survey gathered information from 400 CEOs regarding their investment strategies in technology over the next three years.

  • While CEOs see cybersecurity as one of their top risks, 76% of survey respondents see it as an investment and opportunity to find new revenue streams and innovate.

  • However, a slight majority (59%) said they are somewhat prepared for a cybersecurity event, and only 40% said they are well prepared.

  • 32% said they plan to significantly invest in cybersecurity in the next three years.
