Ransomware Bypasses Microsoft Office 365 and Google Drive Security
By Chris BrunauResearchers have discovered a new strain of ransomware on the dark web. Shurl0ckr has avoided built-in malware protection in Google Drive and Microsoft Office 365.
According to researchers, Shurl0ckr follows the ransomware-as-a-service model, which allows people with little technical skill to conduct ransomware attacks. After a payload that encrypts files on disk is generated and distributed, users pay a percentage of the ransom to the malware’s author. In addition, Shurl0ckr allows hackers to customize ransom demands and encryption capabilities.
