IT is a tough profession with A LOT of demands. Technology is quickly evolving and the line between work and home (with regard to all these technologies) is a blurry one.

At the beginning of the year, there was the typical flurry of analyst reports and studies that all came out declaring the top priorities, concerns and focus areas for IT pros in 2014. We read through these lists and predictions and compiled a phrenology - the Mind of IT.

Let’s take a little peak inside the brain of the modern day IT professional. What are some of their thoughts?

  •  Enable cloud adoption - No surprises here. The adoption of cloud applications throughout the enterprise is continuing, and will be a focus for IT in 2014 and beyond. According to a recent survey from Skyhigh Networks, organizations are using roughly 626 cloud applications!
  • Keep users safe - CryptoLocker got some attention the past few months as it seems like whenever IT has everything under control, a new virus rears it’s ugly head.
  • Rogue IT is everywhere - It’s nice that users feel more empowered and comfortable with technology but is increasingly terrifying that IT is faced with the challenge of keeping track of everything. An ESG research study found that half of knowledge workers accessed or downloaded applications that were not provided by IT.
