The COVID-19 pandemic changed many aspects of life around the world as was a driving force for change and innovation. Most striking for IT teams was the abrupt shift to enable remote work across organizations of all sizes, in many cases overnight.

Protect Your Company from Teams Data Loss

As the recent outage proves, it’s important for businesses to protect their Microsoft Teams data as they would for any other critical SaaS application data. Should Microsoft’s systems go down or an error occur on Microsoft’s side, your data may be compromised. Additionally, there have been numerous cases where employees delete data en masse (perhaps after the end of a project) thinking that the information is no longer needed, only to realize several months later that those files are now required.

Best practices state that your backup data should exist in a second location independent of Microsoft 365’s environment. In this scenario, if primary and local backup data is destroyed, administrators have another copy offsite to restore from. This thinking is Disaster Recovery 101, but many individuals overlook this when it comes to Microsoft 365 data. Your Microsoft data is just as susceptible to data loss without an offsite copy of your data.
