While Backupify always finds a way to celebrate our Kentucky roots (college hoops anyone?), we’re actually based in Cambridge, MA - right over the Charles river from Boston. Our office is situated between Harvard and MIT. Clearly we like to be surrounded by brainiacs!

Today we’re off for Patriots Day, a holiday that commemorates the anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord; battles that took place in Massachusetts during the American Revolution. It’s also Marathon Monday. In Boston we absolutely love Marathon Monday and last year when tragedy struck we came together as a city, emerging stronger than ever.

So, in honor of Marathon Monday and the city of Boston, I turned to my fellow co-workers and asked “Why do you love Boston?”

Check out why Backupify has a Boston love affair:

“Fenway Park, the oldest ballpark in the country, with some of the best and rowdiest fans.” Hayley Bakst, Channel Sales Manager

“You don’t have to travel far to be in nature - mountains, hiking, parks. You can be in the most beautiful, remote areas in 30 minutes.” Tania Pylyp, Account Management

“I love it when random strangers on the train are discussing quantum physics. Only in Boston!” Kasia Bytnerowicz, Senior Design Director

“I love Boston because I can ski in the winter and sail in the summer.” Michael Hoydis, Security Engineer

“Trips to Cape Cod, 4th of July on the Esplanade, Haymarket on Sunday mornings when all the fresh produce arrives, I could go on and on.” Mark Eaton, Sales

“I’ve lived in many cities throughout my life and career but none compare to the vibrancy of Boston. From passionate sports fans to brilliant tech minds. There is really a myriad of cultures.” Kathryn Cartini, Talent Development

“Sports snobs. This city loves its sports teams and their athletes. When the Red Sox won the World Series, the city came alive. There’s just nothing like it.” Kaitlin Murray, Design

“I love that Boston is willing to adopt a Mets fan like me, as long as he (as a good Mets fan should) harbors a healthy hatred of the Yankees.” David Block, VP of Engineering

“My inner fat kid loves Boston - lobster rolls, Boston cream pie, clam chowder.” Katie Thornton, Marketing Manager

“As an immigrant I stayed in Boston because it’s small enough to feel like a village but big enough so that not everyone knows your business.” Daniel Stevenson, Vice President, Business Development

And with that…..Happy Patriot’s Day and Happy Marathon Monday!
